Liverpool equal top-flight record with Salah-inspired win at Palace

Mohamed Salah equalled one Premier League record at Crystal Palace, and his match-winning goal helped Liverpool to hit another top-flight high.

The Reds needed inspiration from somewhere as they headed to Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Salah was to eventually provide the spark in a 2-1 triumph , with the Egyptian forward netting his 29th Premier League goal of the campaign.

He has now found the target in 21 top-tier fixtures this season, allowing him to match the previous record achieved by Robin van Persie and Cristiano Ronaldo .

A timely effort, which arrived six minutes from time, allowed Liverpool to complete a fight-back started by Sadio Mane.

Having fallen behind to a first-half penalty at Palace, the Reds responded in style after the break.

Victory has cemented their standing inside the top four and edged them a step closer to Champions League qualification.

It has also drawn them level with Arsenal as the most successful away side in the history of the English top flight.

With the Gunners at home to Stoke on Sunday, Liverpool are guaranteed to maintain that standing for at least another week.

They will then get the opportunity to edge clear on their own when they make the short trip to Goodison Park for a Merseyside derby date with Everton on April 7.
