Miralem Pjanic and Cristiano Ronaldo scored for Juve in a 2-0 win over SPAL which kept the pressure on early pace-setters Inter on Saturday, with Antonio Conte’s side starting their late kick-off at Sampdoria with a record of five wins from five.
Inter have dazzled in some games and been fortunate to win in others, but Sarri hasn’t been thinking too much about their form. With a Champions League fixture with Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, the former Chelsea boss says that is the only thing on his mind.
“I haven’t actually watched any Inter games this season,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia. “We’ve focused mainly on the teams we are facing next.
Tonight, we’ll watch a couple of Bayer Leverkusen matches and then go to dinner.
“I hear that Inter are playing very well, I had no doubt they would considering the quality of the coach and their players. I always said this would be a far more balanced season.”
Sarri reserved praise for Emre Can, despite the former Liverpool man only coming on for the last half an hour.
Left out of Juve’s Champions League squad, the Germany international has cut an unhappy figure but Sarri was pleased with his application after coming on for just his second appearance of the season.
Paulo Dybala was also singled out after a second assist in two games. The Argentine too had been rumoured to be unhappy as his various summer transfer moves failed to materialise, but he has now started each of Juve’s last three games in Serie A.
“Squad rotation is important, but so is the fact Emre Can came on with that attitude and determination after his great disappointment,” Sarri said. “He can be a very useful player for us this season.
“Dybala gives us quality and more solutions going forward. Cristiano Ronaldo was lively today and created four or five scoring opportunities, while Higuain has been doing well this season.
“It’s good to have three forwards where any combination you choose, you can’t really go wrong.”
