Baroka fought valiantly and eventually walked away as worthy winners following a penalty shootout.
While Tlale believes that Pirates deserved to win the trophy, he acknowledged that they missed their chances which allowed Baroka FC to take advantage.
“I think it was a good final, but Pirates didn't take their chances after playing a good game. I think on penalties, any team can win it and I like that both teams attacked and we had goals - it was a good advert for the PSL and sponsors," Tlale told Goal.
“Baroka, yeah deserved it because they beat big teams in Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns. Those wins gave them hope and belief that they can go on and win the cup," said the legend.
“They beat two defending champions, the other in the Cup and the league, so they did well and congratulations to them," congratulated Tlale.
Speaking about coach Wedson Nyirenda's men going forward, the former Brazilians keeper said they must now look to improve their position on the log table.
The Limpopo-based side sit 14th on the log with 10 points from two wins, four draws and six defeats so far.
“The fact that Baroka won the trophy means there are no small or big teams in the league now. Every team working hard can achieve big things," he reacted.
“We know the story of Cape Town City, they are still new and they have two trophies, that tells you it's no longer Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns who are always challenging for big things," added the Kroonstad-born coach.
“It's a massive achievement for them, but they must start to look at getting more wins in the league because they don't want to fight against relegation," warned Tlale.
“My thinking is that they must just fight to get points, avoid losses and at least get a point out of every match they play, remain focused and avoid being too excited after this trophy,” he responded.
Moreover, the former Bloemfontein Celtic net minder has urged the Ghost to keep fighting to end their four-year trophy drought.
“On the other hand, Pirates must just keep working hard. The loss to Baroka is a thing of the past and they must look at fighting for the Nedbank Cup. The league and the Caf Champions League because they deserved to win the Telkom Cup,” he said.
“I believe they are championship material and will definitely win one or two trophies this season,” concluded Tlale.
