Former Orlando Pirates midfielder John Moeti says Monday's Premier Soccer League (PSL) clash between the Buccaneers and Mamelodi Sundowns is a title decider.

Pirates are placed third on the PSL standings - three points behind log leaders, Sundowns with seven matches left.

“Yeah look, it is a very difficult game and an interesting one. It’s a tough one, but it is correct to call it a title decider because it’s a top of the table clash,” Moeti told Goal.

“Both Pirates and Sundowns are in a good position to win the league title and it might be a decider. If Sundowns win the match I don’t think there will be any other team that can catch them,” he noted.

“On the other hand, for Pirates even if they win, there would be a chance for other teams to catch them and there are more crucial games coming as we wrap up the season. The league race will not be concluded if they win and their victory would give other teams a better chance of pursuing the title,” said ‘Dungi’.

“I think two things will come out on Monday, the coaches will have contrasting game plans or approaches,” he continued.

“You will remember Sundowns have just qualified for the Caf Champions League last eight and they will be motivated to continue where they left off,” said the 1995 African champion.

“For Pirates, I think they will want to make up for their failure to reach the knockout stages and they will want to make a statement that 'we want to win this PSL trophy', this is the ultimate prize and they will want to go all out,” said the legend.

“I think Sundowns will be happy with a draw, but I think Pirates will not be happy with that result. For them it will be two points dropped at home,” responded Moeti.

“Sundowns will still be okay with a point to cement their spot at the top and a win will be a bonus for them, but Pirates must try harder to win it,” he concluded.
