ISL 2018-19: FC Goa's Sergio Lobera rues mistakes and missed chances against Bengaluru

FC Goa went down 1-2 against Bengaluru FC at home in a dramatic clash on Thursday in their eighth match of the Indian Super League (ISL).

Rahul Bheke scored the opening goal of the match in the 34th minute but Brandon Fernandes restored parity for the home side. Sunil Chhetri converted a header to earn Bengaluru their fourth consecutive away win.

Speaking on the match, Goa coach Sergio Lobera said, “Like every other defeat, we take it badly. More so today because I thought this game was very equally balanced. A draw would have been a more fair result, but when you commit mistakes in a game which is so balanced, we conceded from a corner again.”

On Mohamed Ali getting sent off after his second booking of the night for handling the ball, Lobera opined, “I haven't seen the incident yet. There are a lot of incidents that I need to see from today's game.”

On asked if the red card affected the game, Lobera suggested, “It affects the game when you are down to 10 players. When it was down to 10-10, I thought we were back in the game and we could have scored another goal but the crucial point was them scoring after we had equalised.”

The Spaniard agreed to the fact that not converting the chances created hampered Goa’s chances of coming back into the match.

“Ultimately there were a few chances that we didn't take. In the last minute as well, you saw we had the chance to make it 2-2,” said the FC Goa boss.

The former La Masia coach refused to comment on the refereeing decisions. He jokingly said, “About the referees, I'll leave it to you guys to write. I'll buy all the newspapers in town tomorrow to see what you guys had to say.”
