Asante Kotoko suffered their first defeat under coach Steve Polack on Wednesday when Inter Allies posted a 1-0 victory over the Kumasi giants in matchday 22 of the Ghana Premier League at the Tema Sports Stadium.

A lone goal from Abdul Hadik Hudu in first-half was enough to end the Porcupine Warriors nine-game without defeat, with their title chase also dealt a huge blow.

Polack made two changes to his side that defeated Medeama on Sunday as Baba Mahama and Michael Akuffo made way for Eric Donkor and Obed Owusu respectively but, their hosts' boss maintained his regular faces in starting eleven.

Although, the travelling supporters, who were optimistic of a victory ahead of the game were silenced, another talking point was the 'unnecessary' red cards picked by Kotoko's Evans Quao and Alloes' striker Isaac Osae.

It was the hosts who threatened Kotoko's defence first by the second minute through Osae, when he was released by Isaac Twum but his effort was thwarted by Ahmed Adams before Augustine Sefa made another clearance six minutes later.

Kotoko made their first threat by the 24th minute through Owusu, who sent a teasing cross but Donkor failed to connect it before Sadick Adams fired wide.

Allies finally found a breach in Kotoko's defence by the 30th minute through Hudu. Although, Kotoko protested the forward was in an offside position, referee Prince Amoah ruled it to be a legitimate goal.

Kotoko began to show frustrations in their play after centre-back Richard Osei Agyemang was shown yellow card for a rush tackle by the 40th minute before his teammate Quao crashed with Allies' forward Osae four minutes later, resulting into a fight which saw the two players been sent off.

After the break, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Sadick tested the hosts' defence on numerous occasions but were unsuccessful in all their attempts.

Polack brought on Akuffo and Ashittey Ollenu for Agyemang and Sadick respectively and, although their presence brought pressure on Allies, the latter soon weathered the storm and held on to pick a priceless three points.

Kotoko have dropped one place to fourth position with 35 points, eight points behind leaders Wafa, and will host fierce rivals Hearts of Oak in Kumasi on Sunday.
