The pint-sized attacker has expressed his resolve to target the Federation Cup title with the Pride of Rivers than seeking personal glory

Bernard Ovoke has stated that he will be happier if Rivers United are able to win the 2018 Federation Cup.

The striker noted that he is not keen on emerging as the highest scorer of the cup competition despite his impressive performance in their last Federation Cup fixture.

Ovoke fired four goals against Gusau Eleven in the Round of 64 where they pummeled the Zamfara State representatives, 5-0 but he was unable to increase his goal tally in the Round of 32 when Remo Stars Junior their supposed opponents failed to show up in Minna and were subsequently walked over.

The former Bayelsa United striker said that he is not chasing personal glory but to ensure that the Pride of Rivers emerge as the champions of the Federation Cup again this term.

“I won’t say I am sad because we didn’t get to play and I was unable to increase my goal tally,” Ovoke told Goal.

“I am happy that we are through to the group stage and that is what matters to us now. We would have loved to face Remo Stars Junior and beat them to nick the ticket but all well and good, we are through to the group stage and must prepare for life beyond it.

“I want my team to end the FA Cup competition as champions and if this will cost me the chance to become the highest scorer I will so much desire to be happy to relinquish it. I am not bothered about individual honour and I will do all that I can do to ensure that Rivers United perform well in the Federation Cup this year.”
