The All India Football Federation (AIFF) played an important role in order to raise sponsorship for the World Cup Under-17 which will kick-off in less than a week’s time.
While FIFA, the governing body for world football, has global partners, Praful Patel, who serves as the AIFF President and Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), ensured that a sizeable amount was generated from India.
Bank of Baroda, Coal India and Hero are the three national sponsors for FIFA Under-17 World Cup in India.
“The AIFF was very much a part of the process of bringing sponsors on board. We appointed a top agency who could help us market the Under-17 World Cup and attract corporate to invest in this property,” informed Kushal Das, the AIFF General Secretary.
Close to 40 crores INR was generated by the AIFF for the Under-17 World Cup and Das stated that it wasn’t an easy task to convince investors.
"The key bit was to get the first deal done. Once that was done, then it was easier to convince others. We have LED boards in every stadium which shall give enough exposure to every sponsor,” Das added.
