Aizawl FC gaffer Khalid Jamil expresses his joy following victory over former club Mumbai FC.

The Meghalaya outfit got the better of The Mumbaikars on Sunday evening as the visitors clinched a 0-1 victory. Mahmoud Al Amna registered his name on the scoresheet following an assist from Lalruatthara. The Syrian made no mistake in slotting the ball into the net as Kattimani was left stunned.

Aizawl FC coach Khalid Jamil was elated with the result and credited the players for the win. ''I’m happy with the result. The result has been achieved because of the players. It is them who did everything and not me,'' he expressed. Furthermore, overwhelmed with the performance, the Kuwait-born gaffer hyped the result as a special achievement and said, ''This is one of the happiest days of my life!''

Khalid believed that Mumbai didn't trouble Aizawl's defence at all. ''The defenders had an easy day at work. Even our goal keeper hardly touched the ball. That speaks for itself,'' claimed the 39-year-old.

On being asked if Mahmoud Al Amna has been the best signing for the club, Khalid answered that not just Amna but the whole team is a great unit. ''Alfred (Jaryan), Albert (Zohmingmawia), Ashutosh (Mehta), Jayesh (Rane) and all others are giving support to Mahmoud Al Amna. I’m happy with all of their performances. All of them are top class,'' he commented.

Aizawl face South Indian side Chennai City FC in their next tie. Discussing the upcoming tie, Khalid termed the new entrants as strong opponents. ''Chennai (City FC) are playing well. They are a tough side. I want to continue the same spirit for the next match,'' he concluded.

As for the home team's manager, Santosh Kashyap was proud of The Yellow's efforts despite the disappointing loss. However, the manager highlighted the issue of the absence of an impactful striker. ''We missed a strong striker upfront but I am happy with the players’ efforts. In the future matches, we’ll be a much dangerous side,'' he revealed.

Kashyap also stressed on the financial problems faced by the club and how that has affected him. ''We have several challenges in the name of budget, new setup, management and many other things. But every team faces such challenges. I am sure we will overcome this and fight back hard,'' he signed off.
