Kenya will play Jamaica in one of the four build-up matches Harambee Stars have lined up as part of the team’s preparation ahead of the 2019 Afcon finals.
Plans are afoot to see that Stars camp in Europe on their way to the continental championship, whose host is yet to be known after Caf stripped Cameroon of the hosting rights.
But the match against the Reggae Boys, which is set to be staged in London, United Kingdom, will only materialize should the tournament be moved to another West African nation or the north, according to FKF boss Nick Mwendwa.
FKF are also keen on organizing a game against Ivory Coast, though the local fans will have a chance to watch the team play at home, on March 26, before Sebastien Migne and his charges depart for the continental assignment.
“The game (against Jamaica) will be subject to the next host the Afcon. If the tournament heads to South Africa, then the match will be of no benefit to us because it will be summer in London while South Africa will be experiencing winter,” noted Mwendwa during a press briefing at the Fifa Goal Project on Thursday.
Stars will be involved in a home game, immediately after the last qualifying match against Ghana on March 22. After that, the team will depart for France for a three-week camp, though this is also subject to the hosting nation.
