Germany fire U20 Women’s World Cup warning to Nigeria after Netherlands thrashing

Germany U20 women side have warned Nigeria that they are ready for the U20 Women’s World Cup clash next month after brushing past Netherlands 5-1 on Tuesday.

The European giants who are gunning for their fourth world title in France secured a massive win to end their preparations on the high against the World Cup campaigners in Goch, Germany.

A brace from Laura Freigang and a strike each from Jana Feldkamp, Sophie Oberdorf and Janina Minge ensured Maren Meinert’s ladies crushed the Dutch women at the Hubert Houben Stadium.

Freigang opened the scoring for the hosts after 12 minute before Feldkamp doubled the lead in the 40th minute, but Joelle Smits pulled one back for the visitors on the brink of half time.

In the second half, quick strikes from Oberdorf and Minge in the 52nd and 55th minutes, as well as Freigang’s second of the match in the 68th minute, saw the Germans reign supreme.

The three-time world champions are expected depart for France on August 2 and will begin their campaign against Nigeria four days later in Saint Malo.
