Real Madrid will not be overly affected by the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, feels former Spain international Gaizka Mendieta.
While Cristiano's influence and goalscoring prowess will be missed by the Los Blancos, Mendieta feels this is not the first time Real Madrid have seen the departure of a star player.
The former Valencia midfielder said that Real Madrid will have to go through an adaptation period but will overcome the void left by the Portuguese superstar.
"Obviously, there will be an adaption time. He has been a massive player for Real Madrid in the last years," Mendieta told Goal on the sidelines of the International Champions Trophy in Singapore. "The number of goals he has scored and the way he has impacted their gameplay and his leadership in the dressing room (will be missed).
"Obviously, there will be something missing there."
He went on to state that this is not the first time Real Madrid have seen big players make an exit and will find a way to cope with the situation.
"But it is Real Madrid. This has happened there previously also where big players have left.
"Other big players have arrived.
"If you look now, because Ronaldo is not there, leaders like Bale, Benzema, Modric or Ramos have to fill that gap. They will always have great players."
