Former Ghana international eyeing Hearts return

Fresh from upgrading his credentials, former Hearts of Oak attacker Laryea Kingston has set sights on the club's coaching job.

The ex-Ghana winger was among a group of prominent personalities, including elder brother and former Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingson, who completed a three-week Caf Licence B coaching course last month. 

And it is for obvious reasons that the 36-year-old places the Phobians high on his list of targets.

“Last month, I completed my License B course, which means I am ready to start coaching very actively,” Kingston said, according to Football Ghana.

“I want to work my way up gradually to the Premier League level.

“Everyone knows Hearts of Oak is in my heart, so I will be very glad to be given the opportunity to coach or manage them one day.

“Right now, I have a Division Two club I am coaching.”

Following a spell with Great Olympics, Kingston played for Hearts between 2001 and 2003, becoming a hugely popular figure among the club's fans.

After several years abroad, the former Celtic man made a brief return to the Phobians, helping the side to finish fifth in 2012-2013.

He featured for Ghana at the 2006 and 2008 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
