Egypt coach Javier Aguirre feels they could have beaten Swaziland by a wider margin had they not wasted scoring chances in the 2-0 away win on Tuesday.
Goals from West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi and Marwan Mohsen helped the Egyptians beat Swaziland although they blew a number of golden opportunities.
“Swaziland are a very strong team and it was not easy to control the ball during the match,” Aguirre is quoted by Kingfut as having told the press after the game.
“We played the same way we did in the first leg to put pressure on their defences to win the game. We presented a good game and players followed my instructions, but we could have scored more goals if we took advantage of the chances we made.”
Egypt thumped Swaziland 4-1 in the reverse leg in Cairo on Friday with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scoring one of the goals straight from a corner kick.
Salah was however not available for the return leg with an injury and Aguirre commented on his star's absence.
“But I am coaching the whole team which includes a number of good players who can always replace each other. We don’t think about who is taking part in the matches but rather try to make all of our players ready to play,” Aguirre added.
Egypt’s next two games are against Tunisia at home and then Niger away. These would just be to see who finishes at the top of their group.
