Dennis Nya not surprised by Akwa United's resurgence

Akwa United’s Dennis Nya has stated that he is not surprised by their current form after they beat Enyimba 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Wednesday to rise to the fourth spot.

The Promise Keepers were unconvincing towards the end of the first round matches but they have managed to pick 11 points from their last five matches and have remained unbeaten in the process.

Nya who scored what turned out to be the winning goal against the People’s Elephant disclosed that he knew that their unimpressive results of the past were only temporary and that what they have achieved in their last five games have confirmed that.

“This is football where things don’t go the way you want it at all times,” Nya told Goal.

“I know that our unimpressive of then would only happen for a while and the results we have posted in the last five games showed that we have rediscovered our form and can beat any team now. This is what we have done to Enyimba even though it was a tough game.

“Games between us and Enyimba are always very tough and it was no surprise that they came all out also this time around. There was a little rain in the first half but we played better in the second half when the rain stopped and we deserved these three points.”

Nya has scored three goals in his debut season for Akwa United after he joined them from Lobi Stars where he spent two seasons and he has played 25 matches out of the 28 they have been involved in, in all competitions.
