Gordon joins on a one-year deal though financial terms were not disclosed.

“Alan has a lot of the qualities that we look for in a center forward and we are certain he will help us increase our attacking output,” Rapids head coach Pablo Mastroeni said in a press release. “He has been an exemplary pro with a wealth of experience playing in this league, and we’re confident that he will bring the right mentality to our group.”

The 35-year-old target striker had spent the previous two and a half seasons with the LA Galaxy, scoring 13 goals over that span. It was his second run with the Galaxy, having spent six and a half seasons with the team between 2004 and 2010, scoring 16 goals. Overall he has found the net 52 times in the regular season over his 12-year MLS career, which also includes two MLS titles.

Gordon has been capped twice by the United States national team, playing 34 minutes in total. He most recently made the U.S. roster in the fall of 2016 for a pair of World Cup qualifiers, but did not appear in either contest.
