Previous reports having done the rounds suggested that Chiefs had been eyeing the former Orlando Pirates playmaker, but talk of a move seemed to go quiet.
However, after missing out on Vincent Pule who is set to be amongst several new faces at the Buccaneers, according to Sunday World, The Glamour Boys who are currently without a head coach have turned their attention towards the 28-year-old.
Since joining the Chilli Boys in the January transfer window, Rakhale has been highly influential as he has featured a total of 15 times in all competitions, netting twice and his exploits has certainly not gone unnoticed.
However, according to Chippa’s owner there has been no formal offer tabled by Chiefs for the skilful winger’s services as yet. But Mpengesi admits that the club will not stand in his way should an offer be made.
"I have been hearing people telling me that Chiefs want Thabo but we, as the club, have not been contacted by any club regarding Rakhale," Mpengesi told Sunday World.
"I am not selling any of my players, but I won't be able to stand in their way, especially if they feel like moving on,” he added.
Having only recently signed for Chippa on a three-year deal, Rakhale will almost certainly not come cheap.
"The player we are talking about [Rakhale] still has two years left in his contract. I think he's still happy to be with us because he has been getting game time, but you cannot guarantee anything in football. We will have to wait and see," he said.
Meanwhile, Amakhosi spokesman Vina Maphosa remained coy on any interest.
"Where did you get that? I am not at office but as soon as I have an answer I'll call you,” Maphosa told the publication.
"I won't lie, I have no clue at all that the club wants that player you are asking about," Maphosa said.
