Jamal Sellami assesses his side’s victory over the Mediterranean Knights in midweek

Morocco coach Jamal Sellami is already looking ahead to Sunday’s African Nations Championship final after seeing the back of Libya in the last four on Wednesday.

The Atlas Lions overcame the Mediterranean Knights’ challenge to register a 3-1 win after extra-time at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca.

Ayoub El Kaabi and Walid El Karti scored in the extra period after Abdulrahman Khalleefah cancelled out El Kaabi’s opener for the hosts in 90 minutes.

“Congratulations to all Moroccans for the team's qualifications to the final,” Sellami said after the game.

‘It was a good game despite the fact that we made some mistakes.

“In general, we played well and against a tough opponent.”

It was Morocco’s first ever semi-final appearance in the history of the African Nations Championship.

“I told my players to be calm and keep the ball which we did and found a way through,” Sellami added.

“For us we want players who will come and add something to the game and with Zakaria Hadraf we had that.

“As I always say, some players will start and others will join in when we need them in the second period.

“For the final, we have not decided on who will start yet, but we will go and prepare well to win on Sunday.”

Morocco are set to face Nigeria, who beat Sudan 1-0 in the second semi-final, in Sunday’s climax.
