Brazilian coach Roberto Oliviera emerges as a front-runner for Gor Mahia job

Brazilian coach Roberto Oliviera Gonclaves is most likely to take over the vacant role at Gor Mahia.

According to reports from Rwanda, the Rayon Sports tactician has already been approached by K’Ogalo , who were left without a clear leadership at the technical bench following the resignation of coach Dylan Kerr.

“Gor Mahia’s leaders have been aware for some time that Kerr will be leaving and after Everton’s 4-0 win in a recent friendly between the two teams, they called Robertino on the phone and talks are far away,” Rwandan publication Umuryango reported.

The race for the vacant position has so far attracted over 30 applications, even though Luc Eymael, who was among the front-runners, has since opted out.

Others in the list are former AFC Leopards coach Pieter De Jongh, Calum Shaun (England), Italian Roberto Landi and Olivier Karekezi formerly with Rayon Sports of Rwanda.

Eymael pulled out of the race on Wednesday leaving Oliveira and Pieter as among the clear favourites to land the job until Landi sent his application.

Gor Mahia will face Malawi giants Nyasa Big Bullets in the first leg of the Caf Champions League on November 28 before the return leg on December 5.
