The veteran marksman has called on his teammates to do well on Sunday as they want to lift the Macufe Cup trophy

Ahead of the 2018 Macufe Cup match against  Bloemfontein Celtic , Kaizer Chiefs  striker Bernard Parker says they have to win the trophy convincingly.

Despite acknowledging the clash as a friendly, the experienced Amakhosi forward believes that they have to beat Siwelele and ensure they are ready for their upcoming matches.

“As players we know what will make them [fans] happy. So, we will do our best to ensure we win the match convincingly as we’ve done in the last years," said Parker at the launch of the cup according to Chiefs website .

"Most members of the team will travel for the match with the exception of those who are doing duty for their respective countries,” he added.

Moreover, the likes of Zimbabwe's Khama Billiat and Uganda's Godfrey Walusimbi are also out to play for their respective countries in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“We know it’s a friendly match, but it’s important to do well and boost our confidence,” acknowledged Parker.

"We need more competitive matches of this nature to ensure that we are fit and combat-ready for the upcoming league engagements,” concluded Parker.

The clash in the Free State province will feature a second string Chiefs side which is crippled due to the international Fifa break where players such as Itumeleng Khune and Ramahlwe Mphahlele are representing Bafana Bafana against Seychelles at the Calabash on Saturday afternoon.
