Bernard Parker and Tsepo Masilela return for Kaizer Chiefs, Kabelo Mahlasela on the mend

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the return to training of striker Bernard Parker, while Tsepo Masilela has fully recovered from his ankle injury and will be assessed in order to get him ready for full training. 

According to the club's physiotheraphist, Dave Milner, the former FC Twente forward has joined the rest of his teammates at the training grounds, meaning he's in contention for this weekend's Nedbank Cup match against Golden Arrows. 

“Parker has recovered from an ankle injury. He is back in training with the rest of the squad,” Milner told the Amakhosi website. 

“Tsepo has recovered from his ankle injury. He is on continuous assessment to get him ready for full training,” he said. 

Masilela's recovery would come as a huge relief to his camp after Chiefs put contract talks on hold to allow him to recover from the injury. 

He is into the final six months of his current deal with the Soweto giants, and as things stand, he is eligible to sign a pre-contract with a team of his choice. 

Meanwhile, Kabelo Mahlasela, who joined Amakhosi from Bloemfontein Celtic in last month [January], could return to action in the next eight weeks. 

The 26-year-old injured his knee on his first training session with the team, and it is for this reason that he hasn't featured for the Glamour Boys. 

“Mahlasela has started with rehab in the gym. He is doing cardio and leg strengthening. He is still using crutches and a brace. We are looking at eight weeks to go before he resumes training on the pitch,” Milner said. 

Furthermore, the Amakhosi medical team reports that Philani Zulu sprained his ankle against Bidvest Wits, and he will be monitored throughout the week alongside George Maluleka, who has a calf strain. 

“Zulu sprained his ankle. He is undergoing treatment and will be under assessment throughout the week,” concluded Milner.
