Former Dreams FC striker Lawson Bekui stole the headlines on Saturday after he scored a hat-trick to help Al Dhofar defeat Fanja 3-2 in the Omani Premier League.
The 20-year-old, who joined Dhofari in a season-long loan deal, opened the scoring in the 14th minute before adding another in 78th and 91st minutes respectively to send the home supporters into wild jubilation.
“I am really excited with my first hat trick as a professional footballer. I give thanks to God for the opportunity and to my teammates and technical staffs. It's a great feeling for me having banged in three goals and my side also winning a big game like this,” Bekui told Footballmadeinghana.
“The mentality of every attacking player in football is to score and I have it at the back of my mind to score in every game I play. The well wishes I get from my family and friends also inspire me to go all out on the pitch and do it for myself and also for them.
“Our next game is against first placed Al Suwiq and it is not going to be an easy game but the hat-trick will serve as a bigger form of inspiration so that I can score more goals,” he added.
Goal understands that Bekui may extend his stay in Oman following a two-year proposal.
