Coach Stuart Baxter has confirmed that South Africa will take on Zambia, Zimbabwe and Angola in international friendly matches later this month

Having last played a competitive match during the 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifiers against Senegal last year, Bafana Bafana will now face Zambia, Zimbabwe and Angola this month.

Coach Stuart Baxter confirmed the three international friendlies, but said the Football Association of Zambia is yet to finalise the details.

According to the South African Football Association (Safa), Bafana will take part in a four-nation tournament in Zambia.

Although media reports suggested that the clash against Zimbabwe was scheduled for March 25 in Harare, the tournament will be hosted by Chipolopolo at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Bafana last played Zimbabwe in a friendly back in 2013 where the Warriors bagged a 2-1 win at the Orlando Stadium.

With Bafana having failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, Baxter will want to overcome the two Southern African opponents ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers en route to Cameroon.

The English coach led his team to a 2-0 win over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their first qualifier and will want to boost their Afcon qualification hopes in Group E.

Bafana’s next qualifying match is against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya on March 23 at home, and the coach will announce his squad for the matches against Chipolopolo and the Warriors next week Monday.
