The former striker-turned-football-pundit has praised the Black Stars following their emphatic victory over the Red Devils in Brazzaville

Former Ghana striker Augustine Arhinful has showered praise on Black Stars following their 5-1 away victory over Congo in the return leg of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in Brazzaville on Tuesday.

Following a 1-1 stalemate last week in the first leg in Kumasi, a hat-trick by Thomas Teye Partey and a brace from Richmond Boakye Yiadom were enough to hand the Black Stars their first win after four games.

"I'm impressed with how the Black Stars approached the match despite knowing that Ghanaians were not with them in the fight," Arhinful told Happy FM.

"They showed calmness in the early minutes when the Congolese tried to take the initiative. I must applaud them for that because it's not easy to come out victorious from such fight, when you know Ghanaians had already given up.

"Ghanaians are too quick to give up. We know the task at hand isn't smooth especially after dropping points at home but we're left with two games, and the only thing left now is to try and win those games.

"And at the end of the day, if we win all  the games and we don't qualify, so be it but if we manage to pip our opponents to win the ticket too, we'll sing hallelujah but they were super today," he added.

Ghana sit third in Group E with five points, two behind Uganda with two matches left to complete the qualifying.
