The 29-year-old has had a great start in the Dutch capital and is targeting second place in their Champions League group

Excelling in the Eredivisie again, aiming to go far in the Champions League and loving life in a beautiful city - Dusan Tadic has no doubt that he made the right decision in leaving Southampton for Ajax.

The 29-year-old returned to Netherlands in the summer in a £10 million ($13m) move after spending four seasons in the Premier League.

The Serbia international had been one of the best players in the Dutch top flight over his excellent spells at Groningen and Twente before the English side lured him away, and he is off to a great start upon his return with six goals and four assists from 10 games in all competitions.

The Amsterdam giants are determined to win their first Eredivisie title since 2014 and are aiming to survive the Champions League group stage after being drawn in a group with Bayern Munich, Benfica and AEK Athens.

Playing alongside proficient creator Hakim Ziyech, veteran striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and exciting young players like Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and David Neres, the Amsterdam giants have a lot of talent to work with.

And as he takes on a key role in Erik ten Hag's attack, Serbia star Tadic is happy about the present and excited for the future.

"I'm really happy to be here, because I'm playing with good players and the philosophy of the club is beautiful," Tadic told  Goal after registering a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-0 win over Vitesse. "That is the most important thing. If you find the click, you can play lovely football and then it doesn't matter what they say about you.

"I'm really happy with the [Champions League] draw, we have a big chance to go through to the next round. It will be difficult and I don't think in terms of percentages, but second place is certainly possible.

"I'm excited about every game, but not just in that competition. Our focus must be on every game that we play, or else we'll lose points in the Eredivisie."

Trading London for the Dutch capital was no small step for Tadic and his family, but luckily he is as happy with his surroundings off the field as he is with how things are going on it.

"My family would pick Amsterdam over England every day," he added. "It's a beautiful city. There's nothing I don't like about this place.

"Netherlands is a way better place to live in than England. They only have London, but here it's different. Everything is clean and there are nice roads, streets and bars here. It's something special."

He is also happy to be playing alongside the likes of Neres, back in the starting XI for the first time this season on Sunday, and Ziyech, who had been expected to leave before the transfer window closed last week.

"On the field we rotate a lot and it makes it difficult to mark us," he added. "Therefore it's good to have David back on the field. He really understands the game well.

"He is extremely fast and sharp. He has a real bright future ahead of him. I'm sure he will have a great career.

"Those who understand football really do see that [Ziyech and I] like to play together and constantly look for each other."
