Akwa United top striker Mfon Udoh set to return against Plateau United

Akwa United are set to have more attacking options for their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) tie with Plateau United this weekend.

GOAL has confirmed that top striker, Mfon Udoh is in the Promise Keepers’ traveling squad to Jos for their NPFL Matchday 16 tie.

Udoh is the NPFL’s top scorer so far this season with eight goals but he has been absent in back-to-back games against Gombe United and Kano Pillars.

The striker suffered a slight knock in the away tie in Maiduguri against El-Kanemi Warriors but he is now available.

Udoh made an appearance in an exhibition game earlier in the week and he scored two goals to highlight his readiness to get back into action for his club.

“Yes, Mfon Udoh is back from injury, he is part of the team that would be travelling to Jos to face Plateau United this weekend, we saw what he did on Tuesday; scoring two goals in the match he played, we hope he starts scoring for us this weekend also,” an official of Akwa United told Goal.

Udoh scored the two goals as Akwa United played out a 2-2 draw against Plateau United in the reverse fixture between the two teams.

Akwa United are leading in Group B of the NPFL with 28 points from 15 games while their opponents are second from bottom with 16 points.
