Kwara United’s Abubakar Bala says he is impressed with Enyimba’s fighting spirit against Djoliba after they secured a late 1-0 win in the Caf Confederation Cup in Bamako on Sunday.
Farouk Mohammed’s injury-time strike from the spot was all Usman Abdullah’s men needed to keep their quarterfinal bid alive at the expense of the Malians at the Modibo Keita Stadium.
The People Elephants moved to second with nine points and face leaders and final opponent CARA Brazzaville in Aba on August 28 and the gaffer is urging them not to leave anything to chance.
"I am happy for the team and how they well the played to get all the three points in Bamako,” Bala told Goal.
It was a great feat for them and must applaud the team’s fighting spirit and the manner in which they set out against Djoliba. We know how tough it is to pick three points away from home but they put up a good fighting spirit and a great mentality to win.
“I always believe that they could do it and must commend the coaching crew and the management to put the right strategy and game plan in place to achieve the result. As it stands, they have a good advantage now but need not begin to celebrate anything.
“They must prepare well and be at their best against CARA because no two matches are the same. It will be a difficult game because CARA will also want to qualify too. They only need a draw but must do everything to win at home”
