Abdullah Al Joui joins Maritimo

The Al Batin star makes a move to Portugal

After months of waiting to begin his career in Europe, Al Batin forward and Saudi Arabian Olympic International Abdullah Al Joui will finally join Maritimo in Portugal on a 4-year contract.

Maritimo had previously attempted to loan or buy Al Joui in last year’s summer transfer window, but the Al Batin board had rejected, leading the club to come back for the Saudi player’s services in March. It is worth noting that Al Joui will join the club in July 2018.

Al Joui started his career in the Saudi Pro League with Al Batin in January 2017, where he played 10 games in the 2016/17 season. In the 2017/18 season, he excelled, playing 20 times before the end of the season and also getting called up to the Saudi Arabian National Team.

Maritimo, on the other hand, play in the Portuguese First Division, with 36 points in 8th place. The team is coached by the Portuguese Daniel Ramos.

Al Joui wrote on Twitter: "Thanks to God first and foremost... today I signed a professional contract with Portuguese club Maritimo on a 4-year deal. I would like to thank the Head of Saudi GSA Turki Al Shaikh for his continuous support to myself and the Saudi footballer in general. I would also like to thank my agent Jarrah Al Dhofairi for finishing the details with the club."
