Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until next time, goodbye!
Arsenal face Sheffield United in the FA Cup this weekend, before hosting Norwich in league action. Meanwhile, Southampton travel to Watford.
There goes the full-time whistle! Southampton will regret the individual errors that cost them the game, with McCarthy passing to Nketiah for the opening goal, and spilling Lacazette's shot into the path of Willock for the second after Stephens was sent off for a last-man challenge on Aubameyang following Hojbjerg's misplaced back-pass. Arsenal, however, will be pleased to record a win and a clean sheet after back-to-back defeats. It finishes 2-0 to Arsenal!
90' + 6' FULL-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 0-2 ARSENAL
90' + 5' WIDE! Saka runs into space down the left and clips a cross into the box that Lacazette races to meet at the near post, but the angle is too sharp and the striker nods wide!
90' + 3' SAVE! Aubameyang cuts in from the left and curls a shot towards the bottom-right corner from the edge of the box, but McCarthy gets down and holds on comfortably.
Oriol Romeu
D. Ings
90' + 1' Ings also comes off, with Romeu slotting into midfield, leaving Long up front on his own.
J. Vestergaard
P. Højbjerg
90' + 1' Hojbjerg is the man to make way so that Vestergaard can come on and take Stephens' place in defence.
90' Aubameyang is played through down the left and he tries to roll the ball across goal for Lacazette, but it's hacked behind for a corner.
89' Willock is the third Arsenal player aged 20 or under to score in the Premier League this season (along with Martinelli and Nketiah); the most of any team in the competition.
J. Willock
Goal
86' GOAL!! WILLOCK SURELY SEALS THE WIN FOR ARSENAL!! Lacazette takes the free-kick and his first effort is blocked by the wall, but it ricochets back to him. The striker then thumps a half-volley at goal that McCarthy spills, and Willock is on hand to tuck the ball into the bottom corner! It's 2-0 to Arsenal now!
J. Stephens
Red Card
85' Hojbjerg plays a terrible back-pass from the left and it runs for Aubameyang to latch onto. Bednarek - the last man - slides in and takes the striker out, and he's sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity!
82' Arsenal have attempted just one shot in the second half - a blocked effort by Bellerin just before the hour mark.
A. Maitland-Niles
Dani Ceballos
80' Meanwhile, Ceballos makes way for Maitland-Niles on the right of the midfield four.
A. Lacazette
E. Nketiah
79' Arteta now makes a double-change, bringing Nketiah off for Lacazette up front in the first switch.
78' SAVE!! Great save from Martinez!! What an important stop for the Gunners! Long is played in over the top by a lovely ball from the back. He chests and rifles a volley at goal that Martinez parries, before showing excellent reflexes to dive and collect at the feet of Ings, who was lurking for the rebound!
76' Southampton are pushing forward to try and level the game in the closing stages, but they've worked hard in the heat and appear to be running out of energy.
74' Martinez claims a long ball forward and takes his time distributing as Arsenal look to close out the final stages of the game.
72' SIDE-NETTING! A right-wing cross finds its way to Redmond on the left side of the box and he controls on his chest before thumping a low volley towards the bottom-left corner, but it ruffles the side-netting! That wasn't far away at all.
S. Kolašinac
K. Tierney
70' That change is now made, with Tierney making way and Kolasinac coming on at left-back.
69' Tierney is down with cramp, and Kolasinac is getting ready to come on and replace him.
68' OVER! Armstrong drifts inside from the right, shifts the ball onto his left foot and curls towards the top-left corner, but it flies just over the bar!
66' Arsenal now appear to be playing in a 4-4-2 shape, with Ceballos and Saka out wide in the midfield four, with Aubemeyang up front alongside Nketiah. It nearly pays dividends as the latter tries to pick out the former with a low cross, but McCarthy is out quickly to intercept.
J. Willock
N. Pépé
64' Arteta makes his first change of the evening, bringing Pepe off for Willock.
62' OVER! A throw is worked quickly to Ings, but the ball comes to him under pressure and at an awkward height, and he lashes his snatched volley over the bar.
60' Martinez deals well with a cross to the back post and tries to get Arsenal on the front foot with a quick counter, but the ball goes astray and Nketiah fouls Hojbjerg in an attempt to win the ball back.
58' BLOCK! Bellerin slides a lovely ball through for Pepe down the right, but his cut-back towards Aubameyang from the byline is intercepted. It ricochets back into Bellerin's path in the box, however, and the right-back fires at goal, but it's blocked bravely away!
56' No team have made more errors leading to goals than Southampton in the Premier League this season (10 - joint-high along with Aston Villa and Newcastle) and they very nearly conceded an own-goal there.
54' CLOSE! Aubameyang is picked out with another raking pass down the left and he tries to fizz the ball low across the face of goal. Bednarek slides in to intervene and turns the ball narrowly past the near post with McCarthy scrambling!
53' Southampton have started this half - as they did the first - on the front foot, playing with intensity and purpose.
51' OVER! Southampton work a fine, flowing move that sees the ball worked back to Ward-Prowse on the edge of the box and the midfielder goes for goal, but leans back and fires over the bar.
49' Walker-Peters is involved again as he's found in space on the right, but Saka matches him all the way and turns his cross behind for a corner that comes to nothing.
B. Saka
Yellow Card
47' Walker-Peters is given a rough introduction to the game as he takes a heavy touch, but nicks the ball away as Saka comes flying in and catches the full-back, earning himself a yellow card.
46' We're back underway for the second half!
K. Walker-Peters
Y. Valery
46' Valery is also replaced at right-back by Tottenham loanee Walker-Peters.
S. Long
M. Obafemi
46' Hasenhuttl makes a double substitution at half-time as he looks to freshen things up. Obafemi comes off for Long up front in the first change.
Southampton's pressing game and slick passing in forward areas has caused Arsenal their fair share of problems, but the hosts are yet to really test Martinez in the Gunners goal. Legs seemed to be tiring slightly towards the end of that first half, but Hasenhuttl will be hoping the respite at half-time will be enough to get his side carrying and chasing with intensity again in the second period.
There goes the half-time whistle! Southampton started brightly, but Arsenal were gifted the lead when McCarthy passed straight at Nketiah, who made no mistake in finding an empty net. Aubameyang had rattled the underside of the crossbar earlier on when he seemed certain to score, but the Gunners go into the break with a 1-0 lead regardless.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 0-1 ARSENAL
45' + 2' CHANCE! Nketiah is sent racing through into the box and he tries to work it square to his left, but can't keep the ball under control on the stretch and the chance goes begging!
45' + 1' Nketiah charges McCarthy down again, but this time the goalkeeper just gets his pass away and the striker is penalised as his momentum carries him into the Saints stopper.
44' The Gunners have established their authority on the ball in this game now and are taking their time in possession, working it around patiently as the half-time break approaches.
42' Arsenal try to counter quickly down the left following the Saints corner, with Ceballos feeding Pepe at the byline, but the winger's cross is collected comfortably by McCarthy.
40' Mustafi and Bellerin both produce important sliding interventions to prevent Southampton players from being played clean through in the box, with the latter turning behind for a corner.
38' The tempo of the game is gradually slowing down as the half wears on. Southampton's pressing game is demanding and the heat is likely taking its toll as well.
36' Saints, having retreated into their own half, sought to draw Arsenal forward and create space before pressing high once again, but the Gunners navigated the ball safely back to Martinez and retained possession.
34' McCarthy tries to go over everyone with a long ball for Obafemi, but the linesman flags for offside.
32' Arsenal have settled on the ball now and the intensity of Southampton's press has ebbed slightly.
30' Xhaka nearly plays Arsenal into trouble as he slices his clearance from the left and it ends up going sideways, forcing Bellerin to scramble back and keep the ball in play.
28' CHANCE! Ings plucks what had appeared to be an overhit pass out of the air and lays Bertrand off on the left side of the box. The left-back whips a low ball across the face of goal but Armstrong arrives just too late to turn it home from close range!
26' Only against Manchester United (82) have Southampton conceded more Premier League goals than they have versus Arsenal (77).
24' SAVE! Southampton create space down their left again with some slick passing before Ward-Prowse tries to curl at goal from the edge of the box. Martinez gets his body behind the shot, however, and holds on.
22' Nketiah has now scored six goals in 11 starts across all club competitions this season (four for Arsenal and two for Leeds).
E. Nketiah
Goal
20' GOAL!!! ARSENAL ARE GIFTED THE LEAD!! Nketiah follows in as the ball is passed back to McCarthy and the Saints goalkeeper inexplicably passes the ball at the Gunners striker! It ricochets back towards goal and the young forward gets there first and rolls into an empty net! It's 1-0 to Arsenal!
19' Southampton are pressing high and with real intensity, making it very difficult for the Gunners to build from the back.
17' Saka is back out on the pitch, and Arsenal nearly work a chance on the opposite side as Ceballos and Bellerin work hard to win the ball for Nketiah, who hits the byline and crosses, but it's blocked behind for a corner.
15' Saka is down holding his ankle after a collision with Hojbjerg in the box. Another injury is the last thing Arsenal need.
13' BLOCK! Ings robs Ceballos of possession deep in the Arsenal half and charges towards the area. He has Obafemi to his right, but ignores his strike partner and ploughs on before thumping a shot off a defender as the angle closed on him.
S. Mustafi
Yellow Card
11' Mustafi picks up an early booking for a clumsy, late challenge on Ings.
10' CROSSBAR! Tierney plays a superb ball over the top for Aubameyang to latch onto and the forward takes a touch in the box before rifling a shot past McCarthy that rattles off the underside of the crossbar and bounces out! The Arsenal striker can't believe he hasn't scored!
8' NO GOAL! Xhaka finds the run of Saka in behind on the left and the youngster squares for Nketiah to tuck in at the back post, but the linesman flags for offside! Saka was clearly beyond the last man when Xhaka played his pass.
7' SHOT! McCarthy's attempt to loft a pass out from the back clips the head of Ceballos, allowing Aubameyang to latch onto the ball and strike from distance, but the effort lacks the power or placement to really trouble the Saints keeper.
5' The hosts have started sharply. They're playing with purpose and moving the ball quickly - they look dangerous.
3' Obafemi nearly carves Arsenal open as he sends Armstrong on his way down the right in plenty of space, but Aubameyang is back to cover and wins the ball before clearing.
1' There's an early scare for Arsenal as a throw-in on their right isn't dealt with and Redmond slides a fine ball through for Bertrand to whip into the box. Ings can't quite connect properly with his volley and Armstrong can't sort his feet out in the box to pick up the pieces, allowing the Gunners to hack clear.
1' We're underway at St. Mary's!
Southampton are yet to draw a Premier League game in 2020, with Saints winning five and losing five of their 10 matches. Southampton have kept a clean sheet in four of those five victories, while they’ve conceded at least twice in four of the five defeats.
Arsenal have lost just one of their last eight Premier League meetings with Southampton (W4 D3), though it was in this exact fixture last season in Hasenhuttl’s first home game in charge.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made four alterations to the team that started the game against Brighton. Nketiah and Tierney replace Lacazette and Kolasinac, who drop to the bench, while Xhaka returns from injury in place of Matteo Guendouzi, who is left out altogether. In goal, Martinez makes his first Premier League start in over three years, with Bernd Leno joining Calum Chambers, Cedric Soares, Gabriel Martinelli and Pablo Mari on a lengthy Gunners injury list. David Luiz is still suspended.
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl makes no changes to his starting line-up after such a convincing win in their last outing. The suspended Moussa Djenepo is the only member of the Saints' squad unavailable for selection.
Arsenal substitutes: Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Reiss Nelson, Matt Smith, Mesut Ozil, Joseph Willock, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Matt Macey, Sead Kolasinac, Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsenal XI (4-3-3): Emiliano Martinez; Hector Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Kieran Tierney; Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka, Bukayo Saka; Nicolas Pepe, Eddie Nketiah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Southampton substitutes: Jannik Vestergaard, Shane Long, Nathan Tella, Angus Gunn, William Smallbone, Jake Vokins, Kyle Walker-Peters, Oriol Romeu, Che Adams.
Southampton XI (4-4-2): Alex McCarthy; Yan Valery, Jack Stephens, Jan Bednarek, Ryan Bertrand; Stuart Armstrong, James Ward-Prowse, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Nathan Redmond; Danny Ings, Michael Obafemi.
Arsenal - on the road for the third game in a row - will be desperate for a positive result after back-to-back defeats since the restart, losing to both Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion. They face a Southampton side that enjoyed a 3-0 win over bottom-of-the-league Norwich City last time out.
Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League fixture between Southampton and Arsenal at St. Mary's Stadium.
