Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
This tie is beautifully poised after a dramatic second half. Roma will be buoyed by their second half performance and a great result. Di Francesco’s side face three crucial Serie A fixtures before they head to Portugal for the second leg. Porto will be pleased they got an away goal, but this defeat continues a disappointing few weeks. The reigning Primeira Liga champions have some key matches in their title defence, including a clash with Benfica, before they host the return leg.
Roma beat Porto 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico. Zaniolo starred for the hosts, scoring two second half goals. His first was a good finish inside the area. The youngster passed the ball into the net for his second after Dzeko hit the post. Lopez got a vital away goal for Porto late on, but they were unable to find an equaliser.

Nzonzi is introduced for Pellegrini to add fresh legs into midfield.
Dzeko makes another good run behind the defence and looks to have an opportunity to create something before he is closed down and forced backwards.
Soares attempts a first-time shot from the edge of the area and gets it all wrong. The ball balloons up in the air and spins down to Lopez for a peculiar assist.
LOPEZ MAKES IT 2-1! Soares' sliced shot drops to Lopez in the Roma box. He is under no pressure and puts it past Mirante to get Porto a crucial away goal.
Zaniolo is the youngest Italian to score for Roma in the Champions League. He's on a hat-trick.
ZANIOLO AGAIN! 2-0 ROMA! Dzeko breaks into the Porto half, creating space for a right-footed shot from 25 yards. Casillas cannot get to the ball and it bounces off the post. Zaniolo remains calm to pass the ball into an empty net.

Brahimi is not moving well at all and has to come off. Lopez replaces him.
Both teams are arguing on the touchline because Brahimi was down again when Roma were attacking. Conceicao wanted Roma to put the ball out of play and is furious that they played on.
Great save! Cristante drills the ball across the area after some skill on the right flank and Pellegrini drills a first-time shot. Casillas does superbly to get down and save.
Brahimi still looks in considerable discomfort, but he has returned to the action.

Pepe chips an optimistic long ball up to Militao. It is well-directed, but the flag goes up for offside. Militao also handled the ball.
Herrera finds Militao in space on the right, giving the right-back time to cross. His delivery is poor, though, and it is easily cleared.
Just wide! Telles whips a corner at the near post and Danilo Pereira wins it, but his guided effort goes wide of the far post.
Dzeko's flick on falls to Pellegrini. The midfielder tries to thread El Shaarawy in, but Militao intercepts.
Pellegrini beautifully controls the ball on his thigh in midfield and carries it past a couple of opponents. He quickly shifts it out to El Shaarawy, who goes for the spectacular on his right from range. It goes into the crowd.
Roma have played much better football in the second half so far and the crowd have responded after being quiet for much of the first 45 minutes.
Dzeko controls the ball perfectly in midfield yet again. He is given time to turn and dribbles up the pitch before misjudging a pass and losing possession.
Good save! Zaniolo drifts infield with the ball at his feet and plays a short pass to Cristante. The midfielder spins on it and smashes the ball goalwards. Casillas reacts quickly to punch it clear.
Casillas makes an almighty mess of a cross, causing chaos in the Porto box. The visitors scramble to clear it before Roma can take advantage.
Telles charges all the way down the left, beating a sliding Florenzi. The Porto left-back crosses near the byline and it bounces into the arms of Mirante.
Dzeko is fouled by Felipe near the halfway line after another excellent touch to bring a long pass under control.
Porto get us back underway for the second half.
Roma were unimpressive in the first half and it might not be long before Di Francesco looks to make changes. The midfield was ineffective as Pellegrini and Cristante did not offer enough going forward. Pastore could come on early in the second half for some extra creativity. Porto will be happy to be level, though they have not posed much of a threat. Conceicao would be happy with a draw but will be keen to get an away goal in the second half.
Roma and Porto played out a goalless first half at the Stadio Olimpico. Dzeko came closest to opening the scoring when his right-footed, close-range effort hit the post, but neither side have created much so far.

Porto’s starting XI have amassed 440 Champions League appearances (including tonight), 116 more than Roma’s starting team (324 CL apps).
Porto manager Sergio Conceicao makes a couple of changes to the team that drew with Moreirense at the weekend. Torres drops to the bench and is replaced by Fernando. Jesus Corona misses out with a suspension, which sees Otavio come into the side. First choice strikers Moussa Marega and Vincent Aboubakar are out injured, leaving Soares to start up front.
Eusebio Di Francesco makes four changes to the side that beat Chievo at the weekend. Marcano and Rick Karsdorp are left out of the eleven with Fazio and Florenzi slotting into the back four. Nzonzi drops to the bench with De Rossi starting in central midfield, and Zaniolo moves onto the right flank with Patrik Schick missing out through injury. Cengiz Under is still unavailable with a hamstring injury and Olsen is only fit enough for the bench.

Since winning the Champions League in 2004, Porto have progressed past the round of 16 only twice (2008/09, 2014/15) and never further than the quarter-finals.
Porto come into this riding a long unbeaten run, having not lost a match since October. Five straight wins to end the group stage saw the Portuguese side cruise to the top of Group D. Goal scoring has been a concern of late, however, resulting in three draws in their last five league matches, which has seen Benfica close the gap at the top of the table.
Roma have not been at their best of late, though they have only lost one of their last eight. Defeats to Real Madrid and Viktoria Plzen in their two group matches saw the Serie A side finish second in Group G. A good win against Chievo at the weekend kept Roma just a point outside the top four in Serie A. They will be confident of recording a positive result in Italy’s capital this evening.
Hello and welcome to the Champions League last 16 clash between Roma and Porto.
