Dennis Oliech needed forty five minutes to hit his first goal for the champions in a 2-1 win against Posta Rangers on Wednesday

Dennis Oliech found the back of the net as Gor Mahia edged out Posta Rangers 2-1 in a mid-week match played on Wednesday.

Coach Hassan Oktay opted to give his fringe players an opportunity to prove their worth against the mailmen. Wellington Ochieng’, Charles Momanyi, Cercidy Okeyo are some of the players, who were given a starting berth.

Posta Rangers started the best eleven with John Kamau targeting maximum points against the Green Army. Gilbert Osonga and Danson Kago were among the players who were given priority to down the league champions.

Gor Mahia looked eager for an early opener within five minutes, they had already missed a couple of chances, notably a Francis Kahata's effort that missed the goal by inches.

K'Ogalo looked dangerous in early exchanges, but the likes of George Odhiambo, Kahata and Francis Mustafa could not capitalize on them.

Defender Charles Momanyi was called into action to rescue the team in the 25th minute. Shafik Batambuze brought in a wonderful corner-kick, and Momanyi was in the right place to bang it in after the mailmen failed to clear the danger.

Posta’s misery continued after Levis Opiyo was injured and Eliud Emase took his place. But with that did not deter the visitors from fighting for an equalizer that eventually came in the 41st minute, courtesy of Francis Nambute.

Dennis ‘The Menace’ Oliech did what many fans had been dreaming of! In the 46th minute, a cross was brought in by Wellington Ochieng’ and the legend brilliantly controlled it before burying the ball into the back of the net to hand his team maximum points.

The result means Gor Mahia have ten points from six games, four more than the mailmen after same number of matches.
