Commentary

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Newcastle give themselves some breathing space now, as they are six points ahead of Fulham in 18th. They face West Ham United next time out. Meanwhile Burnley are 15th, just one point ahead of Newcastle now and they face Manchester United next weekend.
Newcastle come from behind to clinch a vital 2-1 victory over Burnley and boost their survival hopes. The hosts led 1-0 at the break thanks to Vydra’s strike, but the introduction of Wilson and Saint-Maximin changed everything, with the latter providing the assist for Murphy’s equaliser on 59 minutes. The winger then produced a superb run and finish to make it 2-1 just five minutes later and they held on to secure the three points.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: BURNLEY 1-2 NEWCASTLE UNITED
J. Hendrick
M. Almirón
90' + 3' Newcastle are just running the clock down now and they've made another change, with Almiron replaced by Hendrick.
J. Mumbongo
J. Guðmundsson
90' + 1' Burnley have made a late substitution, with Gudmundsson replaced by Mumbongo.
90' There will be a minimum of four minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
90' OFF THE LINE! Almost a third for Newcastle! They break quickly and Saint-Maximin races past Tarkowski, before pulling it back to Almiron who is racing into the box and he looks to be finding the back of the net. However, Tarkowski reads it well and makes an excellent clearance on the line.
89' Another good cross into the box from the left wing by McNeil, but Dubravka once again gets up and comfortably collects.
87' Burnley are pushing forward in numbers in search of an equaliser, but time is starting to run out for them. The visitors look comfortable at the back, they just need to remain switched on.
85' Blocked! Ritchie whips a good corner delivery into the box, which is cleared but only to Longstaff on the edge of the box and he tries to volley it first-time. However, he gets it all wrong and misses the ball, so it then falls to Saint-Maximin, who sees his effort blocked.
83' Stoppage in play here as Longstaff is down receiving some medical treatment on the pitch after a challenge by Pieters. However, it looks like he will be fine to continue.
81' Less than 10 minutes left to play at Turf Moor now, can Burnley get a late equaliser? Newcastle now have everyone back behind the ball defending.
79' Following their 3-1 win over Burnley earlier this season, Newcastle are looking for their second Premier League double over the Clarets, previously doing so in 2018-19.
77' Dubravka hasn't had much to do in the Newcastle goal for a while, with Burnley not looking as dangerous in the final third. Still no sign of any changes by the hosts.
75' Newcastle are starting to sit a little bit deeper as Burnley start to keep the ball in midfield, they just need to make sure that they don't relax too much as there is plenty of time left to play.
73' Into the sidenetting! Tarkowski chips a high ball over the top of the Newcastle defence and Vydra latches onto the end of it. The striker fires a shot at goal, but it flies into the side of the goal.
71' Surely it won't be too long until Dyche starts to make some changes of his own, as Burnley try and get back into the game.
J. Brownhill
Yellow Card
70' The first yellow card of the game is shown to Brownhill after he deliberately brings Almiron down as the Newcastle man looked to break forward on the counter.
68' Saint-Maximin is only the fifth player to both score and assist a goal as a substitute in a Premier League match for Newcastle, and first since Rolando Aarons against Tottenham in May 2016.
66' Burnley have conceded two in the space of five minutes and they look shocked at the turnaround. Now they need to come from behind to get something out of the game.
J. Shelvey
Assist
64' The visitors produced a quick counter-attack and Shelvey released Saint-Maximin, who produced an excellent run and finish to make it 2-1.
A. Saint-Maximin
Goal
64' GOAL! Newcastle take the lead, Saint-Maximin with a superb strike to fire them 2-1 ahead. They counter quickly, with Shelvey feeding him and Saint-Maximin drives forward, with Mee and Tarkowski both backing off, so he cuts onto his left-foot on the edge of the box and then drills the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. What an impact he has had.
62' This game could go either way now, the tempo has increased and Newcastle are full of energy, but they need to be careful at the back still, as they look vulnerable on the counter.
60' Burnley go up the other end of the pitch straight from the restart to try and re-establish their lead, with McNeil drilling a low cross into the six-yard box. However, it is well cleared by Fernandez.
A. Saint-Maximin
Assist
59' Saint-Maximin has injected some pace and power into the game and the Burnley defence just kept backing off, which allowed him to sneak into the box, before picking out his team-mate on the edge of the penalty area, who produced an excellent finish.
J. Murphy
Goal
59' GOAL! Murphy equalises for Newcastle, it’s 1-1! The changes have made the difference for the visitors, with Saint-Maximin creating the goal. The winger does brilliantly down the left wing, getting all the way to the byline, but can’t get past Pieters and instead pulls it back to Murphy, who powers the ball into the top left corner of the net. Superb strike.
C. Wilson
D. Gayle
57' The other change is a straight swap up top, with Wilson replacing Gayle.
A. Saint-Maximin
Joelinton
57' Here is the expected double substitution by Newcastle, with Joelinton one of those coming off and he has been replaced by Saint-Maximin.
56' CLOSE! McNeil isn't closed down as he dribbles into the penalty area, so he fires an effort towards goal and it looks to be heading into the top corner. However, Dubravka once again is forced into action and he superbly tips it over the bar.
55' Decent effort! Wood sneaks in behind after a quick Burnley free-kick and the striker holds of his marker, turns and then drills a shot at shot from a very tight angle. However, it flies well wide.
54' It will be interesting to see how long Bruce leaves it before making a change to his side. They have the likes of Saint-Maximin and Wilson on the bench today, who will be looking to make an impact.
52' Another Burnley corner now, Wood gets past Fernandez and then flicks it against the defender to win a set piece. Can Burnley create anything from this? Unfortunately not, as Dubravka comfortably gathers.
50' Steve Bruce is without a win in his last 44 PL games when his side has gone in at HT behind (D5 L39) since a 3-2 win over Newcastle as Hull boss in Sep 2013.
48' Bright start here by Burnley, they are pushing forward in search of a second goal early on, with Newcastle struggling to get going in the opening few minutes.
46' SAVE! Burnley win a corner straight away from the restart and the initial ball is cleared, but only to Lowton on the edge of the box. The first strike is well blocked, but it comes straight back to him and this time the right-back makes much better contact, smashing a volley towards goal. However, Dubravka gets up and tips it over the crossbar.
46' The second half is under way!
The hosts almost doubled their lead right at the end of the half, when Dummett almost fooled everyone and scored an own goal, but luckily Dubravka was alert to make a fantastic save. Burnley on top, but Newcastle are now starting to test the Clarets and it could be an interesting second half.
Burnley lead 1-0 at the break after Vydra’s close range strike after 18 minutes, following an excellent move and Wood picked him out perfectly. The hosts have been on top for the majority of the half, but Newcastle have improved as the game has gone on and Gayle saw his goal ruled out for offside. They also had a penalty shout, after Longstaff challenged for a high ball with Tarkowski and the centre-back raised his foot, but VAR said no penalty.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: BURNLEY 1-0 NEWCASTLE UNITED
45' + 1' Dubravka is called into action once again, this time to deal with a wicked cross from the left by Westwood and he has to palm it over the crossbar.
45' There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
45' ALMOST! Dummett is very relieved as he almost scores an own goal! A low ball comes into the box from the left wing, it is flicked on and flies towards a few Burnley players, so Dummett knows that he has to do something. Unfortunately his contact makes it fly towards goal, but Dubravka is alert and makes a superb save to deny Burnley a second.
43' Stoppage in play here as Lowton is down on the pitch with an injury and the medical staff are on to give him some treatment. However, it looks like he will be fine to continue.
41' There’s not long left to play before the end of the first half, can Newcastle get an equaliser before the half-time whistle?
39' VAR agree with the intitial decision, no penalty is given. They take a long hard look at the incident and Tarkowski did have his foot very high, but there wasn't an awful lot more that the centre-back could have done to clear the ball.
38' PENALTY SHOUT! It's a great save from Peacock-Farrell to start of with to deny Gayle from close range, after a low cross into the box. The ball the flicks up and Longstaff puts his head in to try and get it into the back of the net. However, Tarkowski makes the clearance. The referee doesn't award anything, but VAR are going to take a look. The centre-backs foot was very high.
36' There isn't much urgency from Burnley to push forward and try and extend their lead here, they look content with their 1-0 lead and are now starting to sit a little deeper as Newcastle show more urgency.
34' GOAL RULED OUT! Good play by Newcastle down the right wing, Murphy gets forward and drills a low cross into the penalty area, which is met by Joelinton, but he doesn't get the best of contact on it and it trickles towards the goal. Gayle then flicks it into the back of the net, but he is offside and the flag goes up straight away.
33' Burnley look pretty comfortable at the moment, the visitors haven't had a sniff of goal yet and the hosts are playing the game at their own pace. Much improvement is required from Steve Bruce's side.
31' We’re past the half an hour mark here at Turf Moor and it remains Burnley who hold a 1-0 advantage, thanks to Vydra's strike on 18 minutes.
29' Over the bar! Brownhill steps up to take a free-kick from the edge of the box, he gets it up over the wall, but it doesn't then dip back down and it flies high over the crossbar.
28' Lovely turn by Gudmundsson on the edge of the penalty area, which tempts Clark into making the challenge and the centre-back fouls him. A very good shooting opportunity now.
26' Burnley are working the ball into some good areas, but are just lacking the final ball to try and create an opportunity in front of goal. Vydra and Wood look very sharp though.
24' Newcastle haven't won any of their previous 25 Premier League games when conceding first (D6 L19). They'll be hoping to try and change that stat today.
22' The Burnley defence have done a good job of keeping Peacock-Farrell protected in the Burnley goal, with the Northern Ireland international making only his second Premier League start for the Clarets today.
20' The visitors need to try and get on the ball more and keep possession better in the Burnley half, we've hardly seen Joelinton and Gayle on the ball so far today.
C. Wood
Assist
18' Wood did brilliantly to dribble into the box, get past Murphy and then find his team-mate with an excellent pass. The striker could have gone for goal himself, but opted to play it to Vydra.
M. Vydra
Goal
18' GOAL! Burnley take the lead, it’s 1-0! Newcastle fail to deal with a long ball over the top from Pieters and Westwood wins it back, before playing it through to Wood, who does brilliantly to get past his marker in the box and then pull it back to Vydra on the edge of the six-yard box. The striker then coolly fires it into the back of the net.
16' Burnley look more threatening in front of goal at the moment, they have managed to catch Newcastle out in behind on a couple of occasions, with Vydra using his pace to good effect.
14' SAVE! Wonderful corner delivery into the box by McNeil, which is met by Brownhill at the near post and he fires a header towards goal. However, Dubravka makes a great stop, before Newcastle clear the danger.
13' Burnley are winless in their last six Premier League games at Turf Moor (D5 L1), drawing each of their last five – they haven’t drawn six consecutive home league games since April 1936 in the second tier.
11' Not too far away! Shelvey breaks forward and Newcastle counter, it finds Longstaff out wide and he tries to deliver a cross into the penalty area. However, he gets it all wrong and it almost flies into the back of the net. Peacock-Farrell had to be alert and saw it fly over his crossbar.
9' Newcastle have everyone back behind the ball at the moment, soaking up the pressure and it is all Burnley, they are dominating possession in the middle of the pitch.
7' McNeil is fouled by Murphy deep down the left wing and he hands Burnley a free-kick in a good position. The winger whips the set piece into the box, which is met by Tarkowski, but he can't fire his header on target and it flies well wide.
5' Decent chance! Gayle almost gets his head to a cross into the box from the right, but it is too high and goes all the way out to Ritchie down the left. The winger whips a cross into the area, which this time Gayle does make contact with, but it's straight at Mee and he makes the block.
4' Good move! Newcastle work the ball nicely down the right wing, with Murphy releasing Almiron down the flank and he cuts back onto his left foot and drills a cross into the box looking for Joelinton, but it is cut out.
3' Both teams are just settling into the game at the moment, with Burnley seeing a little bit more of the early possession. However, it is all in the middle of the pitch and nothing in the final third just yet.
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
Meanwhile Steve Bruce has made two changes to his team, with Krafth and Lascelles missing out and they have been replaced by Fernandez and Clark. A big positive for Newcastle is the return of Wilson on the bench, who will be looking to make an impact after his lay off due to injury.
Sean Dyche has only made one change to his starting line-up and it is a big one, with Nick Pope missing out due to injury and he has been replaced in goal by Peacock-Farrell.
