Billiat is yet to commit to a new contract at Sundowns and a move to Europe has been widely touted for some time now.
However, Zamalek president Mortada Mansour has reportedly confirmed that they are in talks with the 27-year-old forward.
“We received an offer concerning Billiat, but our decision to hire him depends on the opinion of team’s coach Mohamed Helmi,” Mansour told reporters, according to Zimbabwean publication News Day.
The reining Premier Soccer League (PSL) Player of the Season’s exploits over the last 12 months has seen his stock rise in value.
He has become one of the most sought-after talents on the African continent.
During the 2016/2017 January Transfer Window, it was believed that the Zimbabwean player could follow his former Masandawana teammate Keagan Dolly to the French Ligue 1.
Nonetheless, it seems any talk of a move to the 2016 Caf Champions League runners-up are still in the initial stages.
Although, Billiat has previously confirmed to Goal that a move to another African club remains unlikely as Europe is his preferred destination.
If Zamalek are to capture the signature of Billiat they would have to trigger his reported R34 million release clause as he still has 15 months remaining on his current Sundowns contract.
