After crumbling in Maidguri, the Ikon Allah handler says his side is aiming to improve their goal scoring to see off the Promises Keepers on Sunday

Niger Tornadoes head coach Abubakar Bala has revealed his side will work hard on their finishing to overcome Akwa United at the Confluence Stadium.

Ladan Bosso’s men netted in either halves to see off the Ikon Allah’s side in Maiduguri and the tactician has blamed his side’s misadventure on their wasteful against El Kanemi Warriors.

He assured that they will return to winning ways with a convincing win an ‘improving’ Promise Keepers.

"The match has been won and lost but it was a good match," Bala told Goal . He continued: "Overall, we lost the game because my strikers disappointed me in the match.

"Because we played very well and created good chances and not even half chances. We had a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper three times in the game.

"We had one in the first half before they scored their first goal and also had two clear chances in the second half before they got their second goal.

"But the team improved well and played together like they did against Nasarawa United in our last home game.

"We just have to work on our finishing and goal scoring. That was our problem in the match in Maiduguri and that's why we have returned to Lokoja early enough to correct those mistakes.

"We are playing against Akwa United which is the most improved team in the league now.

"And they knowing we are not playing at home, they will be hoping to come to a neutral ground with hopes to get something in Lokoja.

"We know we must work very hard and get the three points at home. We are not only aiming for three points alone, but we want to give our fans a good match to watch.”

Niger Tornadoes are 10th on the log with 18 points so far and will be hoping to rise into the top six with a home win over Abdul Maikaba's men.
