Wikki Tourists goalkeeper, Chinedu Udeh has blamed their 4-0 defeat to Akwa United on fatigue after they had traversed Lagos and Uyo for two away Nigeria Professional Football League games within four days.
The Giant Elephants put up a commendable performance in the first half against the Promise Keepers in which they let in just a goal before they conceded three more in the second half after they became exhausted as a result of the long distance and inadequate rest before the tie.
Udeh who was on parade said lack of adequate rest time backfired heavily on them at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
“We played two difficult games just under four days and it affected us because we are not machines. We travelled long distance too from Jos to Lagos and then to Uyo. We played very well in both games especially in Lagos where we almost ran away with a draw before they got the winning goal,” Udeh told Goal.
“But against Akwa United, we were unable to cope with them in the second half after we had curtailed them to a great extent in the first half. We became tired as a result of fatigue that set in and we could not stop them from scoring further goals.
“We will go back home and prepare very well for our next home game with Lobi Stars. It will be a tough game but I know that we are up to the task. We can’t afford to lose more points after we lost our last two games,” he stated.Wikki Tourists are 13th in the league table with nine points from seven games.
