Chapecoense have returned to Medellin, the scene of the heartbreaking plane crash which devastated the club in November, ahead of their Recopa Sudamericana match against Atletico Nacional.

The Brazilian outfit had to rebuild their side after most of their team were killed in the air disaster - along with members of the staff - with 71 of 77 people on board passing away.

Alan Ruschel, Jakson Follmann and Helio Neto - the three players to survive the crash - were among the Chape delegation who were greeted at Rionegro airport in Colombia.

Chape take on Colombia's Atletico Nacional in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana on Thursday, taking a 2-1 lead into the tie from the opening fixture.

The club head into the match on the back of winning their first title since the plane crash, scooping the Santa Catarina state championship on Sunday.

Chape won the first leg 1-0 but despite losing by the same scoreline in the reverse fixture, they were crowned champions due to holding a better record over the course of the season.
