UEFA Champions League Player of the Week MD5: Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been named the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week for Matchday 5.

Lewandowski has been in sparkling form for the Bundesliga champions this season and continued his remarkable purple patch with four goals in Bayern's 6-0 romp away at Red Star Belgrade, whose defence was breached four times in just 14 second-half minutes by the Poland international.

Lewandowski has now netted 28 goals in just 19 appearances for Bayern Munich this season, 10 of which have come in Europe's premier club competition.

The former Borussia Dortmund supremo is the second Bayern player to achieve Player of the Week glory; Serge Gnabry scooped the prize on Matchday 2 following his four-goal salvo against Tottenham.

The 31-year-old saw off competition from Lionel Messi, Keylor Navas and Romelu Lukaku to take POTW glory; will he add to his tally during the knockout stages?
