Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela has turned his focus to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

This is after Amakhosi booked their place in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory over National First Division (NFD) outfit Stellenbosch FC in Durban last weekend.

Komphela believes that the victory over the Stellies has boosted his charges' confidence ahead of their PSL encounter against AmaZulu FC at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday.

This will be Amakhosi's first league game since losing 3-1 to their fierce rivals Orlando Pirates in Johannesburg almost two weeks ago.

“The first thing we take (from this win) is confidence,” Komphela said on The Citizen.

“Before the defeat (to Pirates) last week, we were not losing. But it is a part of being at Chiefs. We have to respond immediately,” he continued.

The draw for the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals will be conducted at the Clock Tower in Cape Town on Thursday.

So far Chiefs, Free State Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic, Maritzburg United, Baroka FC, Mamelodi Sundowns and NFD side Ubuntu Cape Town have all advanced to the quarter-finals

The last round of 16 match will be played on Wednesday with Cape Town City hosting Orlando Pirates in the Mother City.

Komphela stated that he is only focusing on their clash with Usuthu as the Soweto giants look to revive their hopes of winning this season's PSL title.

“Focus will now be on AmaZulu. The positive is that we can work without much stress even though pressure will always be there," he added.

“I saw certain things we consistently do wrong. Now we have to show the players they are doing it again and try to rectify it," Komphela said about Amakhosi's performance against Stellenbosch.

Chiefs are placed fifth on the league standings - eight points behind log leaders Sundowns with seven matches left.
