Former Chemelil Sugar goalkeeper John Waw has attracted interest from two Kenyan Premier League clubs in the mid-season transfer window.
Goal understands that Kakamega Homeboyz has emerged as the front runner in snapping up the ex-Chemelil skipper.
Waw is among the over a dozen players who terminated their contracts with the Millers after the club failed to honour the contract by delaying players' salaries.
Chemelil Sugar hav enot paid their players fo rthe last 11 months.
But Goal has reliably learnt that Waw, who was close to joining Sofapaka before Batot Ba Mungu snapped up Wycliffe Kasaya from Mathare United, is now on the radar of Homeboyz.
“The club has already made contact but nothing much has been done. We expect the deal to go through in the coming days. We need someone with his experience to join our ranks,” a source at the club told Goal.
Goal also understands that Homeboyz are facing stiff competition from Sony Sugar who have also made an approach on the free agent custodian.
“We are told Sony are also eying him, so we will have to move in very fast to bring him on board,” our source said.
According to a source at the Kenyan Premier League Limited, Waw officially terminated his contract with Chemelil after handing his a notification at the Brook-Side Drive last week.
