The result was taken advantage of by second-placed Kedah to retake the top spot on Saturday, when they defeated Melaka United 4-0 at the Darul Aman Stadium. It was a one-way traffic situation in the match, with Ken Ilso Larsen (33', 90+1') and Sandro da Silva (p. 48', 79') both bagging a brace in the match. The Mousedeers dropped to 10th following the defeat.

Kelantan meanwhile recorded their second consecutive win on the back of Lebanese forward Mohamad Ghaddar's second consecutive hattrick, defeating T-Team FC 4-2 in Kota Bharu. He opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but Nor Hakim equalised for the visitors just after the second half kicked off. But the home side powered through, and added three more goals afterwards, through Khairul Izuan Rosli (76') and Ghaddar (68', 83'). Last Wednesday Ghaddar's hattrick helped his club edge Perak with the same scoreline. The Red Warriors shot to sixth with the win, while the Titans dropped to eighth.
In Selayang, Selangor were handed their second league defeat, when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Perak. The only goal of the match was scored Zaquan Adha Abdul Razak in the 67th minute, a penalty that was given after Ugo Ukah handled the ball in his penalty area. The Nigerian also received a second booking and a sending off for the foul. Despite the win, the Bos Gaurus' first win under new head coach Mehmet Durakovic, they still dropped to fourth due to JDT's superior goal difference, while the Red Giants dropped to fifth.
At the Shah Alam Stadium, PKNS FC were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Pulau Pinang. The homeside opened the scoring through Patrick Wleh's 28th minute goal, but the visitors equalised in the 53rd minute through Nigel Dabingyaba's glancing header.

Both goals came in the second half, through Lucas Cano (53') and Hadin Azman (70'). The result shot the Fighters from eleventh to seventh, and their former spot is now occupied by the Crocodiles.
The MSL will now give way to the third round of the FA Cup next weekend, and the international break. Round nine will only be played on April 8 and 9.
