Having lost the forward to a ban, the Jewels of Rivers assistant gaffer is confident her side will triumph in the final in Yenagoa

Regina Akaraonye believes Rivers Angels will retain the Federation Cup title without the services of Alice Ogebe when they face Ibom Angels in the final on Tuesday.

Both Nigeria top-flight sides will rekindle their south-south rivalry as they tango for the competition’s diadem in a successive season at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

Ogebe, who was handed a one-year ban  by the NFF in the fallout of Bayelsa Queens' protest after a 2-0 semifinal win will be heavily missed against the Uyo based girls.

But the team’s assistant gaffer insists they can cope without her as they are focused on getting nothing short of victory against their former coach Ogbonda Whyte’s side.
"The team is fully prepared from what I saw in training," Akaraonye told media.

"The players are aware of the team's expectations which is nothing short of victory. Ibom Angels is a side we've met on few occasions in the past two seasons under Ogbonda Whyte and we know how to get the job done with them.

"Alice is an important part of the team but we can still play good football without her. Someone else will be given the opportunity to fill in her place and I'm sure it will all end in praise.

“All I can assure our followers is that we'll give it our best on the field of play tomorrow (on Tuesday).”
