Singida United head coach, Hans van Pluijm has claimed that Azam FC were lucky to take all the three points in their Ligi Kuu clash at Chamazi Stadium on Saturday night.
Joseph Mahundi’s first-half strike proved enough for Azam FC to seal a 1-0 victory. The victory was crucial for Azam FC who remain third on the table with 38 points two behind Yanga in the second position. The Ice Cream Makers were without a win in their last four Ligi Kuu matches.
Speaking to Goal, the Dutchman said that his team did not start the game strongly enough but after that early goal the game was in their favor although they failed to claim any point.
“They were lucky to score an early goal, after that goal my team started to dominate and increase pressure but unfortunately we did not manage to get something from the game,” said Pluijm.
Second choice goalkeeper Mwadini Ally who replaced suspended Razaq Abalora became Azam’s rescuer after his decisive saves especially in the second half kept Singida United at bay.
