Our mistakes let us down against Akwa United, says Enugu Rangers' Aguda

Though unhappy with their opening loss in Uyo, the midfielder has blamed their defeat to Akwa United on team's errors.

Enugu Rangers' Godwin Aguda has admitted his side's blunders cost them a 2-0 defeat to Akwa United in their Nigeria Professional Football League season opener on Sunday.

Strikes from Kelly Kester and Dennis Nya in either half of the encounter helped Abdu Maikaba's men subdue the Flying Antelopes at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

And the midfielder insists playing on an unfamiliar natural pitch was no excuse for his side loss but is assuring they will put up a better showing against Lobi Stars.

"It is really not a bad game. We came with a plan to win but we couldn't," Aguda told Goal.

"The pitch we played on [in Uyo] was different from what we have [in Enugu] but it had nothing to do with the result. We really played well and tried to create some chances during the match.

"Despite we lost to Akwa United, I believe we are not a bad side. We lost due to few mistakes we made during the game.

"I'm not disappointed at all about the result today {Sunday}. I feel this was destined to be. We are not a bad side. As a team, we are just getting to understand ourselves and I believe we do better in our upcoming games."
