Orlando Pirates have provided an injury update ahead of their clash with Free State Stars on Saturday afternoon.

The Buccaneers are scheduled to host Ea Lla Koto at the Orlando Stadium for the final Premier Soccer League (PSL) game of the season.

Bucs have since revealed that influential midfielders Musa Nyatama and Mpho Makola will miss the clash due to injuries they sustained during the 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City in the Mother City almost a fortnight ago.

A club statement reads: “The Buccaneers will be without the services of Musa Nyatama, who sustained a knee strain during the Cape Town City match and is currently undergoing physiotherapy. According to the medical department, Nyatama is expected to be out for up to a week.”

“Mpho Makola, another casualty from the Cape Town City match, is suffering from an ankle sprain and is expected to be out for up to three weeks. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation.”

The Bucs website also stated that Mark van Heerden and Bernard Morrison are set to see a doctor, while Gladwin Shitolo will undergo a late fitness test ahead of the encounter with Stars.

“Mark van Heerden and Bernard Morrison have doctor’s appointments today, with Morrison attending to a groin injury sustained during training, while Van Heerden addresses a foot injury,” said the club.

“Gladwin Shitolo, who has been dealing with Sesamoiditis of his big toe, has been on prescribed medication, and will undergo a fitness test later in the week to determine his readiness for the match against Ea Lla Koto.”

“Meanwhile the other injured players have been progressing well through the assistance of the club’s medical team as they continue on their road to full recovery,” the statement reads.

Luvuyo Memela, Thembinkosi Lorch and Thabiso Kutumela are still nursing long-term injuries.

“Luvuyo Memela has had a successful operation where his medial meniscus was repaired. He will go for another check up next week and thereafter start with his rehabilitation,” Pirates reported

“Thembinkosi Lorch is two weeks post-surgery to his right shoulder and is said to be progressing well with rehabilitation. Thabiso Kutumela is on the long-term injury list and continuing with his rehabilitation,” another statement read.

Bucs have already secured a second-place finish in the league and they will participate in next season’s Caf Champions League.
