Lindsey Horan's 49th-minute strike led the Portland Thorns to their second NWSL title as they earned a 1-0 win over the NC Courage on Saturday in Orlando, Florida.

The U.S. national team midfielder found herself unmarked at the back post as a hopeful long ball slipped through the box, with Horan slamming home a half-volley from close range at Orlando City Stadium.

Portland, which previously won the title in the league's inaugural 2013 campaign, topped the NWSL Shield-winning Courage in a matchup of the top two teams from the regular season.

"I'm proud of the group, I'm proud of the fight," Thorns midfielder Tobin Heath told Lifetime postgame. "That's what it was out there — a fight."

Horan added: "It was brutal, but each team came out fighting and we got the end result. We're so happy after so much hard work — I'm so proud of this team."
