Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo has said that lifting the much-coveted World Cup trophy remains his ‘ultimate goal’ at the tournament.
Ighalo, 28, who captained the country to the U20 World Cup in 2009, will make his debut in the global tournament which starts on June 14, in Russia.
And he states that, like ‘every player’ for their country, he aims to help the Super Eagles win the biggest trophy in football.
"I used to play in the youth World Cup, but [this is my first time] participating in the actual World Cup...winning the cup is every player's ultimate goal, including mine," Ighalo told Xinhuanet.
First, Nigeria have to navigate their way past Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D, and aim to break their Round-of-16 barrier for the Changchun Yatai marksman to have a chance at glory in Russia.
