According to reports, Masandawana will not register Nascimento for the 2017/2018 season

Mamelodi Sundowns made their first signing of the 2017 July/August transfer window on Tuesday morning with the capture of Ghana international goalkeeper Razak Brimah.

While the introduction of Brimah certainly bolsters Pitso Mosimane’s goalkeeper options following the departure of Wayne Sandilands, questions have been asked about how Masandawana would accommodate the Ghanaian with all five of their foreign quota already filled ahead of the new season.

Aside from the likes of Yannick Zakri, Bangaly Soumahoro, Leonardo Castro, Fares Hachi and Ricardo Nascimento, who were all registered last season, Sundowns also have the returning trio of Mogakolodi Ngele, Kudakwashe Mahachi and Cuthbert Malajila within their ranks which does pose questions about their futures at Chloorkop.

Nonetheless, Phakaaathi have reported that the Brazilians will not be releasing any of their foreign contingent in order to make way for Brimah, but rather will opt against registering Brazilian centre-back Nascimento.

The 30-year-old missed several matches towards the end of last season, and according to reports could be out for a further eight months as he nurses a groin injury.

“What will happen is that (Ricardo) Nascimento will not be registered with the PSL this season because he is still nursing a groin injury which could take up to eight months to heal,” a source close to the Tshwane giants told Phakaaathi.
