Muhsin Ertugral: I don't regret quitting Orlando Pirates job

Former Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral has admitted that he did not expect to leave the Soweto giants after five months.

“Any coach would stay longer at a big club like that. But I did not expect to start at a big club with big expectations and leave after five months, but we always have regrets in life,” Ertugral told Goal.

Ertugral was appointed Bucs head coach last June following a great season with Mpumalanga Black Aces, who are now known as Cape Town City.

However, he left the club straight after their 6-1 horror loss to SuperSport United, which was their first defeat in the league this season.

“Generally, I would tend to be a bit arrogant (laughs), but everyone in the world makes mistake. But it’s a decision that needed to be taken and I did make that decision," he said.

“So I could have approached things a bit differently, but I don’t regret leaving Pirates. Regret is a bad word,” he insisted.

According to Turkish media reports, Ertugral has been touted to join Galatasaray in a technical advisor capacity, the same position he was linked with three years ago.

This despite the fact that he has received offers from South African teams as well as ones from abroad following his exit from Bucs.

“At this stage, I am not looking to get back into coaching. It’s not yet time for me to take over a new team when the season has not started," he indicated.

“I always want to start the season and not in the middle of the season,” Ertugral concluded.
