Moussa Djenepo nets winner as Standard Liege edge past Akhisarspor

Moussa Djenepo scored the winning goal to help Standard Liege to a 2-1 victory over Akhisarspor in Thursday’s Uefa Europa League clash.

The 20-year-old continued his impressive form scoring in his fourth consecutive game for Michel Preud'homme’s men.

Having notched against Sevilla in their opening game in the European competition this season, the forward has not looked back and has found the back of the net against Anderlecht and Oostende to take his tally to six goals across all competitions this season including his strike against the Akigo.

The young striker restored the lead for the Reds in the 39th minute after Onur Ayık had cancelled out Renaud Emond’s opener.

Djenepo featured for the entire duration of the encounter while Nigeria forward Uche Agbo was replaced by Congo DR international Paul-Jose M'Poku.

With the win, Standard Liege are third in the Group J standings with three points from two games behind Krasnodar and Sevilla – who top the group.

The forward will hope to keep on with the blistering form when Standard Liege host Club Brugge in their next league game on Sunday.
