Moses Simon on target as Gent bow to Nice

Moses Simon registered his name on the scorers’ sheet in Gent’s 3-2 defeat to Nice.

The Super Eagles forward could not save his side from defeat as they were humbled by the French side in front of their home crowd.

Birger Verstraete put the Belgian side ahead 13 minutes into the game before Mario Balotelli pulled one back for Les Aiglons with four minutes left before the halftime break.

Arnaud Souquet continued the dominance for the Allianz Riviera outfit after the restart with a 52nd minute goal but Nigeria’s Moses Simon put the Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s men back into the game with 66th minute eqauliser.

In what was ending as a tie, Alassane Plea stood out as the hero in the Ghelamco Arena with the winning goal in the 92nd minute.

Gent continue their build up to the new season with friendly games against Tubize and Beerschot-Wilrijk on July 14 and July 22 respectively.
